Gold-Tone Woven Mesh Knot Bracelet - Sarah Cavender Metalworks

A sculptural bracelet by American jewellery designer Sarah Cavender Metalworks, created from supple gold-tone metallic mesh worked into an oversized intertwined knot.

Cavender is known for transforming fine metal screening and wire into unusually fluid jewellery, using techniques that give metal the movement and texture of woven fabric. This bracelet is an excellent example: several broad tubular sections of open mesh loop through one another to create a substantial statement piece while retaining an unexpectedly light, flexible feel.

The warm antique-gold finish accentuates the intricate wire construction, while the round signed fastening provides a discreet designer detail. Its almost textile-like quality sits somewhere between jewellery and wearable sculpture — characteristic of Cavender’s distinctive approach to metalwork.

Handcrafted in the United States, Sarah Cavender’s jewellery is influenced by historic woven metal and textile techniques as well as her background in sculpture. Her work has also been represented by the Victoria and Albert Museum shop in London, which describes her jewellery as echoing Medieval and Renaissance woven textiles and metalwork. 

A strong piece worn alone over the wrist, particularly effective against black, cream or sharply tailored sleeves.
