This vintage Hermès “Les Bécanes” 90 cm silk scarf is a playful celebration of early cycling culture. On a vivid green border and striped ivory ground, a parade of elegant riders whirls around the centre, surrounded by finely drawn vintage bicycles, straw hats, camera bags and travel trunks. The name “Les Bécanes” – French slang for bikes – is worked into the design, giving the scarf a charming, slightly nostalgic Parisian feel.

True to Hermès tradition, the artwork combines transport, travel and refined accessories, echoing the Maison’s history of outfitting stylish travellers and sports lovers. In fresh green, yellow and cream, it’s a lively piece that brings instant character to a trench coat, blazer or simple knit.

The scarf is in fair vintage condition: there are multiple visible stains on the light areas and a small pin hole (all documented in close-up photos). These flaws are reflected in the price; the scarf remains very wearable, especially when knotted so that the patterned sections take centre stage.
