A distinctive vintage necklace featuring an ornate heraldic-style pendant suspended from a substantial twisted rope chain. The pendant, meant for a different chain, is designed as a decorative shield or cartouche, framed by scrolling acanthus leaves and pierced foliate details. Its blank central escutcheon gives the piece the appearance of an antique family crest or signet motif.

The reverse is stamped “INDIA SILVER”, indicating Indian-made silver of an unspecified fineness. The pendant has a softly gilded or warm-toned finish to the front, contrasted by the darker, oxidised silver-tone rope chain. A gold-tone twisted suspension ring adds another subtle mixed-metal accent.

The chain fastens with a simple hook-and-eye clasp and has an appealing aged patina that highlights its twisted construction. An atmospheric vintage piece with heraldic, Gothic and dark-academia appeal.

NB: The pendant and chain seem to have been paired together rather than necessarily originating as a complete set.

Good vintage condition, with surface scratches, tarnishing, oxidation and variations in tone consistent with age and previous wear. The central shield shows surface marking. The front finish and gold-tone suspension ring display some colour variation.
