Vintage Olive Suede Sculptural Wedge Pumps - Walter Steiger

A striking pair of vintage Walter Steiger Paris suede wedge pumps, designed with the sculptural, architectural approach for which the Paris shoemaker became known. Cut in muted olive-green suede, the shoes combine an elongated pointed toe with an exceptionally high, continuous wedge that rises dramatically from the sole to the heel.

The wedge itself is beautifully constructed in contrasting suede panels, creating a sweeping curved profile rather than the appearance of a conventional heel. Inside, metallic gold leather insoles carry the distinctive Steiger Paris signature, while the leather soles are stamped Walter Steiger.

Walter Steiger established his Paris house in the late 1960s and became recognised for shoes that treated footwear almost as miniature architecture — making unusual vintage examples particularly appealing to collectors of French designer shoes, sculptural footwear and archival fashion.
