An elegant vintage evening handbag crafted in glossy black reptile skin, with a long rectangular silhouette, structured metal frame and gold-tone fittings.

The bag can be carried by its slim top handle or worn over the shoulder using the fine detachable snake-chain strap. A broad fold-over front flap fastens with a concealed press stud, while the rigid frame opens to reveal an organised, gusseted interior with several compartments.

The deep brown finish and small-scale pattern give the exterior a refined texture that becomes more apparent as it catches the light. Its elongated shape, polished hardware and compact proportions evoke the sophisticated evening bags of the mid-20th century.

Good vintage condition.

The exterior remains structurally presentable and retains an attractive glossy finish, but there is visible age-related wear throughout.

The reptile skin shows rubbing, small areas of lifting or dryness, surface marks and colour loss, particularly along the top handle, upper edges, corners and areas surrounding the fittings. Very few scales are raised but only slightly, which is common in older reptile-skin accessories but should be handled carefully to prevent further lifting.

 

The gold-tone hardware and chain show scratches, tarnishing and finish wear. The top handle remains attached but displays noticeable wear and should not be overloaded.

 

The brown interior shows substantial patination, scuffing, creasing, marks and tonal variation. The gusseted compartments appear intact, although the folds, seams, frame and press-stud fastening should all be checked before listing.

The bag would benefit from very gentle specialist conditioning by someone experienced with exotic leather. Avoid ordinary leather creams, soaking or aggressive polishing, as these may loosen or darken the scales.
