A striking vintage black leather statement belt, made in Holland and finished with a dramatic oversized rectangular buckle entirely covered in matching crocodile-embossed leather.

The belt has a wonderfully architectural shape: broad through the centre, gently tapering towards the pointed end, with the large tonal buckle creating an almost sculptural monochrome effect. The glossy embossed surface reproduces the irregular scales and texture associated with crocodile skin while retaining the softness and flexibility of leather.

Its proportions are very characteristic of the late 1980s to early 1990s, when exceptionally wide waist belts were used to define oversized tailoring, dresses and coats. Worn high at the waist, it would work particularly well over a black dress, blazer or voluminous knitwear.

The interior label reads “Made in Holland – 100% Leather”, confirming genuine leather construction. I would therefore describe it as crocodile-embossed leather, rather than faux or mock leather.

Pre-owned vintage condition with signs of age and use visible in the leather and hardware. Light surface wear, small marks and creasing are present, consistent with a used Chanel belt of this era. The logo plaque remains strong and visually impactful.
