A striking vintage Roman Revival necklace centred on three classical coin medallions, combining antiqued silver-tone portraits with warm gold-tone settings and a substantial articulated chain.

The largest central medallion is flanked by two smaller coin motifs, all depicting Roman imperial profiles. The inscriptions and portraits appear to reference Emperor Gallienus, who ruled during the 3rd century AD, giving the necklace the look of archaeological or Grand Tour-inspired jewellery.

The contrasting metals are particularly effective: darkened, silver-tone coin faces sit within polished gold-tone circular mounts, while the structured rectangular-link chain gives the necklace a bold, almost architectural finish.

This type of classical coin jewellery enjoyed particular popularity in the later 20th century, with Roman and Etruscan Revival pieces appearing throughout the 1970s–1990s. The broader fashion for ancient coin jewellery was also famously explored by houses such as Bulgari in its Monete collection

Very good vintage condition, with light surface wear and patination consistent with age. The antiqued finish of the coin medallions appears integral to the design rather than deterioration. Some minor rubbing and variation to the gold-tone finish are visible, particularly around the links and medallion backs.
